Fish out of Water

I have been wanting to try out this place for quite some time already so when a number of friends wanted to get-together and have dinner at Fish Out of Water, I have to admit that the first thing that I thought of was "FINALLY!" :)

The setup or ambiance was leaning more on modern style but still a bit homey. What the place offers is 'fusion'. A combination of Mediterranean cuisine with a local twist. Service was great as well, the crew is very attentive and all-smiles.

On to the food....

Smoked Fish Pizza - Not your usual pizza. The smoked fish was just the right taste and its combination with the veggie toppings was just perfect. It can be shared by 2-3 persons.

Labahita ala Bacalao Pasta - Also not your usual pasta dish. It's Linguini pasta with Labahita (fish) flakes.

Twiced Cooked Pork Belly with Shitake Leek Mashed Potatoes - Another yummy and "big" dish. It may look small in the pic but it can really be shared by up to 4 persons. Almost everybody got to taste this dish.

Crispy Garlic Catfish - that's not really the name of the dish.. I forgot it. :| I think that best describes it anyway. :P

Paella - There's a choice between beef or seafood. I really think the Seafood Paella's serving is bigger. I wasn't able to take a pic of that one though. I'd recommend that people should opt for that one instead of the beef.

And of course.. Dessert! :)

Barako Cheesecake - We really liked this one! Coffee-flavored Cheesecake, though after several bites your tastebuds will be searching for the cheesecake flavor because the coffee will be overpowering it. It's coffee and dessert in one. :)

I'm a purist when it comes to cheesecake so I don't like anything overpowering it. The pork belly looks very good!

Ba-Bye Ate

Today was quite a sad day for our family. For a very close-knit family, goodbyes are really extra difficult to say . Especially if the one leaving will be miles and seas away. My Ate (with her husband) left this morning for the US. They'll be starting their new life there. She already has work so I don't need to worry about that anyway, and I'm sure that she'll definitely do well. My parents were really sad... maybe it's the thought of being "away" from her. Tipong you have to hop on a plane pa just to be able to get to her. The whole family has US visa naman , we can go there anytime (as long as we have the money I guess :p) Yes, I cried a lot as well... and I guess it's because of all the bilins I got from her. The one that stuck the most " Ikaw na bahala dito ha.. Alagaan mo sila Mama and Papa. Si Ivan ha... Wag mo silang pabayaan. " My nephew on the other hand was a different story... he was eager to go home already when we got to NAIA.

Chuper Excited!

2 weeks to go.. then I'll be painting HongKong and Macau red with my Sanity Keepers... Any suggestions on where to go to? Beside from the usual night market, HK Disneyland and Ocean Park. Any cheap foodtrip areas? Plus, it's Arvic's first time in HongKong too. So I'm extra excited for him too. Let the countdown begin!I am sooooo excited already! :) My bday's coming up in more or less 2 weeks also. Yey! Turning 25 and excited about it! :D Planning to spend the weekend before my actual bday with the whole family somewhere. Let's see... :) ======= Yesterday, had a massage at TonTon's again. I loved it! Just what I needed. I love that place.. Not too crowded. And not too expensive too! :) ======= Work starts again tomorrow. Oh well.... positive side? At least I'll have enough moolah to enjoy HongKong. Thank you work! :P CARPE DIEM! I'm out.

Shoot that Target

With all the recent carnapping and non-stop news reports about different types of crimes happening left and right, it's really starting to get scary to live here. But don't get me wrong, I still love Pinas. But we all really should start doing something about this. Be vigilant people. Be alert. Keep safe. With that thought (being alert etc etc) I remember a recent bonding activity I had with my brother and Papa over the holidays. I have a feeling what we did is a pretty unique activity to do on Christmas morning. Guess what we did??? Target shooting! My Papa is a gun-club member for the last 2-3 years, I even had been attending several gunshows for the past years with him. He's an officer of the gunclub of our town in N. Ecija. He's in the process of putting up his own target-shooting range at the back of our house. And that's where we were this past Christmas morning. On our way to the back part of the house. Unfinished target-shooting spot... The bul
