Pa-pa-pa-PAELLA

Over the weekend I had dinner with the Graus (Arvic's family) because it was his Dad's birthday. Dinner was at Rastro along Burgos Circle.

It was our first time to have dinner in that place and I really liked the ambiance and feel of that place.

Off to the food... Because it was our first time to try the place out, we asked for the food recommendation from the waiter and went for it.

Calamares Frito P180.00
Squid rings, dipped in batter, deep fried to a crisp

This was really really good. Crispy but not rubbery. The added lemon pinch was a feast for our tastebuds.

Oyster Pancetta P240.00
Baked oyster with bacon and Parmesan toppings

Really fresh! (according to Nana and Tita), I'm not an expert on oysters, but if they liked it then it must have been really good.

Salpicao P250.00
Beef tenderloin sauteed in garlic and olive oil

Loved this! It was tender and really tasty. I just wish they had a bigger serving of this.

Paella ala Catalana P850.00
Allow 45 min., chefs specialty, saffron rice with mussels, clams,
shrimps, chicken and pork

This was the highlight of the night indeed. :)

The dessert was another thing.. I'll have it posted next. Give the place a try. It's definitely worth it. :) Try to reserve ahead if you can.

i love paella (especially with large prawns); but my wife isn't fond of it. good thing is, she lets me eat what i want and i'm mutual with her of course.

everything does look sumptuous, except for the oyster [i don't eat oyster]!

I've been craving for paella and baked oysters for a long time already. Hindi ko ganong type yung lasa ng paella na available dito. Although masarap din naman. Normally, baked mussels ang sineserve dito.

Ba-Bye Ate

Today was quite a sad day for our family. For a very close-knit family, goodbyes are really extra difficult to say . Especially if the one leaving will be miles and seas away. My Ate (with her husband) left this morning for the US. They'll be starting their new life there. She already has work so I don't need to worry about that anyway, and I'm sure that she'll definitely do well. My parents were really sad... maybe it's the thought of being "away" from her. Tipong you have to hop on a plane pa just to be able to get to her. The whole family has US visa naman , we can go there anytime (as long as we have the money I guess :p) Yes, I cried a lot as well... and I guess it's because of all the bilins I got from her. The one that stuck the most " Ikaw na bahala dito ha.. Alagaan mo sila Mama and Papa. Si Ivan ha... Wag mo silang pabayaan. " My nephew on the other hand was a different story... he was eager to go home already when we got to NAIA. ...

Chuper Excited!

2 weeks to go.. then I'll be painting HongKong and Macau red with my Sanity Keepers... Any suggestions on where to go to? Beside from the usual night market, HK Disneyland and Ocean Park. Any cheap foodtrip areas? Plus, it's Arvic's first time in HongKong too. So I'm extra excited for him too. Let the countdown begin!I am sooooo excited already! :) My bday's coming up in more or less 2 weeks also. Yey! Turning 25 and excited about it! :D Planning to spend the weekend before my actual bday with the whole family somewhere. Let's see... :) ======= Yesterday, had a massage at TonTon's again. I loved it! Just what I needed. I love that place.. Not too crowded. And not too expensive too! :) ======= Work starts again tomorrow. Oh well.... positive side? At least I'll have enough moolah to enjoy HongKong. Thank you work! :P CARPE DIEM! I'm out.

What a Creepy Idea

While we were on our way to the Esplanade, we passed by one long hallway that had several 'artwork' on them. From afar we thought they were paintings, but as we went closer, we saw that they were actually pictures. I asked my friend Aimee if she had any idea who they were, then as we walked some more and saw more pictures, we then realized that they were pictures of.... People sentenced with 'Death by Lethal Injection' and their Last Meals.... =\ There was even one picture that says that the man refused his last meal and requested for a piece of paper and wrote "I want Justice" instead. How eerie is that?!.... I wonder why they had such an idea... I'm out.
