To The Mountains :)

Holy Week - Bontoc, Mountain Province

The very first day of our Holy Week trip with the family was spent in Barrio Mainit. It's located a few kilometers north of Bontoc. Here, there are supposedly about a hundred of spurting thermal springs all over the area. They say that there is a "mother" hot spring in this region that's so hot that it can instantly "burn" things plunged into it. My mom and siblings got the chance to hike up to this area and they told me that they literally saw bubbling waterholes. There are several not-so-hot springs also found in that area and a number of them became sources of bathings pools in the area. And we got the chance to enjoy an overnight stay in one of those resorts. :)

Hellooooo Nature! :)

The place (I forgot the actual resort name..) was a sight to see. It was sandwiched between mountains which made the weather really cool. Just perfect for the hot water in the pools. :) Plus, we spent the night in really cool huts. The inside was made of stone... so you can imagine just how extra cold the night was. Brrrrr. The really think blankets they also provide were perfect for the weather too.

Really neat huts

When night crept in.. the place became even more beautiful... You can actually see the steam from the hot water. :)

We've been going home to Bontoc for several years already for vacation.. and this was the first time we actually got the chance to spend the night in Mainit. And for sure, we'll definitely try to be back there again next year. :)

CARPE DIEM!
I'm out.
