Pabst, the World's Ugliest Dog

Pic is from here . Thanks! He's Pabst and according to the Yahoo news page, he just won the annual contest 'The World's Ugliest Dog' He still looks pretty cute to me. There are no ugly doggies.. :P Plus.. he just earned his owner a $1600 prize, an endorsement deal and lots of freebies. Go doggie Go! :D CARPE DIEM! I'm out.

Yummy ARESI

My family had a very sumptuous dinner a few weeks ago. It was at ARESI at the new Il Terrazo Mall at Tomas Morato. My brother-in-law works there. He's a physical therapist turned Chef. :) I was sure he was pretty excited (and maybe nervous too?) that we finally decided to come over and taste his 'creations'. I don't exactly remember the food selection we made but I can honestly say that it was all delish! Biases aside of course. :) Plus.. a dish may be shared by 2-3 persons. It was a nice, posh and intimate place to have dinner. We were told that a number of celebreties dine there over the weekdays, a few even celebrated their birthdays there. I'm thinking maybe because of the ambiance and the privacy the place has. And of course, the yummy yummy food. :) Yum-yum-yummy food! :D The Chops, the salad, the appetizer and the Lava Cake were personal favorites.. Then we were given a whole cake from Banapple courtesy of the Chef :) ARESI Restaurant and Bar 2nd Level IL Ter

Thoughts

This is exactly how I feel today.... Oh Monday monday monday.. why do you always bring me such deep thoughts. :P Part of me wants safety, wants to go back to how things were, to a life that I could predict, where I know how life is going to be. And the other part of me wants to go somewhere else, into the unknown. -Roswell Take me away... :) CARPE DIEM! I'm out.

Quote for the Day

A very very nice quote I received thru text from one of my officemates that I'd like to share to all of you. (Thanks Gaile!) If you can't be a pencil to write anyone's happiness... At least try to be a nice rubber to erase everyone's sorrow. Pretty neat thought. :) CARPE DIEM! I'm out.

Uuuuuuuuuuuuyyyyy!

Happy 22nd month dear! 2 more months.. then it's 2 years of togetherness already. LOVE YOU! ♥

Craving for...

PIZZA!!!! :D And I'm thinking of: Jugno's Monster Pizza Or that yummy Carbonara Pizza we had at Pizza Hut Bistro Or the Pepperoni Pizza Andy was viciously munching on at Aresi Late night cravings... such torture!!! Must remind myself that I'm trying to cut-down on the calories. I must I must I must. :| CARPE DIEM! I'm out.

Hurray for Kids

Sometimes when I'm really stressed, there's this part of me that wishes I was a kid a again. I miss the carefree lifestyle. I miss miss miss the asking for baon part most I think. I get a kick out of talking to my nephew everytime I get the chance to. He makes me feel like a kid again.. The way he's amazed with every new things he learns, it's really endearing. He's growing up too fast though.. sometimes I feel like I'm talking to a mature person already. :) But then again.. he still believes that me(his tita) and my brother(his tito) had pokemon pets before. So I guess I still have a couple of years to go before he realizes that the pokemon story was made up. :P I found pics of him having fun in the pool... just look at how happy and excited he looks!!! I love kids... the world is such a big playground in their eyes. :) I hope we all keep in touch with that little kid inside each of us... it'll make us appreciate life more. :) CARPE DIEM! I'm out.

Coffee please?

Arvic is such a coffee fanatic. He buys his own beans because he presses his own cup of coffee. I'm beginning to be a coffee-lover too. But his taste in coffee is a whole lot different from mine. He likes it bitter and really strong with almost no milk/cream at all, I like it sweet and a little chocolate-y. The chocolate-lover in me just won't go away. :) So.. it was really nice to find a coffee (& dessert) place wherein we both loved the coffee. It was at Classic Confections. We ordered the same Coffee Latte.. but because he wanted it bitter, he went for the Dark Chocolate Latte and I got the White Chocolate Latte. We also tried their famous "Nono's Chocolate Oblivion", according to their menu it was described as... Two light layers of chocolate cream and walnut praline bits awarded by Food Magazine as one of Manila's top ten desserts! So how was it? I wasn't really such a fan. But Arvic was! Go try it out yourself. :) Classic Confections , Greenbelt

Just the Calm I needed

Last week was a hectic one... And we just had the best way to end it on a very quiet Thursday night just before the holiday. Sweet Tooth Fix at.... I love their cupcakes! Well, actually.. I love the frosting more. Then.. it was followed by a slow stroll at Boni High with just a number of people and cars in sight in the area. Love it! We clicked the night away... Rhino (my camera) and Cammie (Arvic's camera) were very happy that night/morning. :) CARPE DIEM! I'm out.

Suuuuuungka!

Who knows how to play Sungka? What's Sungka you may be thinking? Well, let's allow good old Wiki to define it for us... Congkak (pronounced [tʃoÅ‹kaÊ”] ) is a mancala game played in the island of Borneo , Singapore , and Peninsular Malaysia . Minor variants are known as Tchonka, Naranj, Dakon or Sungka and are played in Indonesia (mostly Java ), Sri Lanka , the Maldives , southern Thailand , the Philippines and the Marianas . In Indonesia, it is called "Congklak" meaning cowrie shells, which are often used as pieces. On the island of Java, it is called "Dakon" and little red seeds are used as pieces. In the Philippines it is called "Sungka" and shells are used as pieces. Congkak is believed to originate from the word ‘congak’ which in old Malay Language means count. When we were in Boracay last April, this game was played during our free time. I love playing it! Especially if my opponent's Arvic because I pretty much win all the time. Haha

Rhino

We need to bond more with Rhino... "really" bond. We (Me and Arvic) haven't been going out for quite sometime already because I have been stomped with work and have been obsessing about saving-up. :| Come to think of it, we've just used Rhino to take "people" pics for the past weekends. No scenery, no interesting/unique images, no picture-stories to tell. Don't you worry dear Rhino (my camera), we'll be going out sooooon! And hopefully it'll be an inexpensive and stress-free event/trip. Any suggestions? :) CARPE DIEM! I'm out.

Commitmentphobe No More

Look... check out who finally commits. :) I've read about this in my friend's blog sometime last week. (Hi Carla ! Thanks for sharing). My initial reaction... "WHY VERONICA?!?" I was such a Betty fan. Oh well... So I've read more about the article just this morning and here's part of it.. “People who vote for Veronica-Archie are the idealists, the people who say, ‘I'm voting for the glitz, the glamour, the high energy, the sexiness, the ideal [and] they might not even care so much that it'll only last five years,'” says the Toronto-based registered family, marriage and sex therapist. Those who yearn to see Archie and Betty get hitched take a more realistic, traditional view, she says. They're more grounded, are thinking long term and have more of a sense of “for always and forever.” The way the girlfriends each relate to Archie sheds a lot of light on their character. Betty allows Archie to push her aside, a sign she'd make a submissive

Stress-free Weekend

I decided that this weekend was going to be a 'stress-relief' weekend. So I went all the way to SM-Mall Of Asia to spend 3-4 hours at the salon, have a hearty luncher (lunch-dinner) with Arvic at Don Henrico's, then finished the night off by singing the night away videoke-style with my bestfriend James and my irog Manuel at Music 88, Blue Wave. Now that's my kind of Saturday. Let the pictures tell the story. Mr. Smiley says hello! :) Hello healthy hair! :) Yummy Buffalo Wings at Don Henrico's Welcome to Music 88 Seafood Platter Let the singing begin... It was a fun night spent with super fun peeps. Must do that again. :) Thanks guys! CARPE DIEM! I'm out.

Sanity Keepers Anniversary

Dear Keepers ( ChaCha , Perky , Eliza , Aims , Kikai , Sheen , Doodles, Mark, Revo ) We've been through a lot already and I can say that I'm really happy to have spent memorable times of my first working years with you guys and gals. Thank you for bearing with me and for 'keeping me sane' during hectic work days and most especially during night-shifts. We've been each other's instant kakampis and sumbungans . And you're my reliable 'help' and 'ESC' buttons too. I miss the pantry fiestas already! Tomorrow marks our 4th year anniversary!!! I love you all to bits. Cheers to 4 years of friendship and a whole lot more to come. Care to 'do the funk' one last time again? Hahahaha! :P CARPE DIEM! I'm out.

H1N1 in DLSU

Oh my Oh my Dear Alma Mater.... Update No. 32-Duque Lauds La Salle University Manila for Voluntarily Suspending Classes After Student Turns Positive for A(H1N1) June 3, 2009 DOH Secretary Duque today lauded school authorities of the De La Salle University (DLSU) Manila at Taft Avenue for implementing a self-imposed temporary suspension of classes for 10 days beginning today after an international exchange student tested positive for Influenza A (H1N1). This is in consonance with Response Level 3 of the Guidelines on A (H1N1) for schools which state that school authorities should suspend classes after detection of at least one confirmed case and there is no sustained community transmission. The new confirmed case is a 21 year-old female foreign student who arrived in the country last May 12. According to DLSU officials, classes officially started on May 25 for the first trimester of this school year. The foreign student only reported very mild symptoms on May 29 which cam

Isdaan at Tarlac

Finally... Arvic got the chance to eat at the Isdaan (in Gerona, Tarlac). I wanted him to try it out because I really think it's unique and a nice place to hang-out with family and friends. Really relaxing... When we got there though, it was raining already. But it's all good. We still had fun. At the entrance, you'll be greeted by our friendly neighborhood (statue) guard. He'll be offering you a newspaper too. I love the native feel of the place. The whole setup revolved on the idea of Thailand-meets-Philippines. Buddha's here and there and a few Pinoy Icons Statues too (e.g. Ninoy, Cardinal Sin, Cory Aquino etc). And because the place was called "Isdaan" , you just really expect to see a lot of fishes right? One of the place's attraction too is the Tacsiyapo ('Shame on You') wall. Here, you're allowed to throw/smash a cup, plate, or even a big TV at the wall to release anger. We weren't able to try it out because of the rain plus we
